Beijing, the capital city of China, has emerged as a frontrunner in 5G technology, with a dense network of base stations, a large user base, and innovative initiatives driving digital connectivity and innovation.

Beijing, the capital city of China, has made significant strides in establishing a robust 5G network infrastructure. As of April, the city had deployed approximately 114,500 5G base stations, achieving a remarkable density of 52 stations per 10,000 individuals. This accomplishment places Beijing at the forefront of the nation's efforts to enhance connectivity and pave the way for advanced digital experiences.

One of Beijing's key initiatives is to improve signal quality, especially in critical areas, demonstrating its commitment to ensuring widespread access to high-speed internet. To accelerate the adoption of 10-gigabit-per-second internet speeds, the city has introduced innovative programs, including the groundbreaking 10-gigabit optical network project, a first of its kind in China.

With a rapidly growing user base, Beijing had amassed 21.27 million 5G mobile subscribers by April, constituting over half of the total mobile user population. Additionally, the city witnessed a surge in gigabit broadband users, reaching 2.54 million, which accounts for more than a quarter of all broadband users.

Furthermore, Beijing has implemented 862 5G virtual private networks across various sectors such as education, healthcare, tourism, media, connected vehicles, and industrial internet. These networks play a crucial role in driving innovation and connectivity in key industries, showcasing the transformative potential of 5G technology.

Beijing's thriving digital ecosystem is evident in its support for over 22,000 internet companies, the highest number in the country. The city also ranks second nationwide in website registrations, boasting a total of 405,600 websites, underscoring its position as a hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.

Beijing's remarkable progress in 5G connectivity not only sets a benchmark for other cities in China but also highlights the city's commitment to embracing cutting-edge technology for the benefit of its residents and businesses. With a strong foundation in place and a clear vision for the future, Beijing is poised to lead the way in shaping the digital landscape and driving innovation in the years to come.
