The federal government's budget for 2024-25 allocates Rs. 1400 billion for the PSDP, with Rs. 5.394 billion dedicated to new IT and Telecom projects. These initiatives aim to boost Pakistan's digital economy, enhance connectivity, and drive innovation in the technology sector.

The recently unveiled national budget for the financial year 2024-25 by the federal government includes a significant allocation of Rs. 1400 billion for the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). Within the PSDP, a specific portion of Rs. 5.394 billion has been earmarked for five new IT and Telecommunication projects, showcasing the government's commitment to advancing digital infrastructure in Pakistan.

One of the key projects in this allocation involves a collaborative effort between the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT), the Board of Investment (BoI), the National Information Technology Board (NITB), and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). This initiative, supported by a World Bank loan, aims to enhance the digital economy of the country through strategic partnerships and technological advancements.

Another notable project, titled 'Expansion of Cellular Services in AJK and GB Phase-IV (SCO),' focuses on improving cellular services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) regions. Managed by the Special Communications Organization (SCO), this project will upgrade the core infrastructure of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) to provide better performance and capacity for users in these areas.

The 'National Semiconductor HR Development Program (NSHRDP) Phase-I (IT Wing)' is a significant initiative aimed at developing human resources in the semiconductor sector. Led by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), this program seeks to modernize the IT industry, making it more competitive globally and enhancing its overall capacity.

The government's allocation of Rs. 5.394 billion for these IT projects underscores its dedication to advancing Pakistan's digital infrastructure and fostering innovation in the technology sector.
