LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met Office) has issued a forecast predicting widespread rain and thunderstorms across the country, beginning on September 26. This weather change is attributed to a westerly wave combined with moist currents from the Bay of Bengal, which are expected to bring heavy rainfall to various regions.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, and Kohat will experience rain and thundershowers starting from the evening or night of September 26 and continuing until October 1. Similarly, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan are expected to see similar weather conditions from September 27 to October 1.

In the Punjab and Islamabad regions, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad, residents can anticipate rain and thundershowers from the evening or night of September 26 through October 1.

As the forecast indicates significant rainfall, residents are strongly advised to take necessary precautions, particularly in areas that are prone to flooding and landslides.
