Karachi welcomes light showers, signaling relief from high temperatures. More rain expected in suburbs, with the monsoon season predicted to bring cooler temperatures and precipitation to Sindh and other regions.

Recently, Karachi experienced a welcome change in weather as light showers graced various parts of the city. This occurrence comes as a relief following high temperatures and in anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season. Weather forecasts had hinted at the possibility of rain, and indeed, neighborhoods such as North Karachi, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Garden, Lyari, Saddar, old-city areas, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal were blessed with light rain. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has even suggested that more rain or drizzle might be on the way, thanks to clouds drifting in from the northeastern regions of Karachi.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has shared insights that hint at suburban areas of Karachi potentially experiencing rain around June 22 or 23. This forecast brings hope for relief from the intense heat that has been prevalent in the region. Additionally, there are expectations of above-average rainfall in Sindh, which includes Karachi. Other cities in Sindh, like Larkana, Shikarpur, Shahdadkot, and Jacobabad, have already witnessed rain accompanied by thunderstorms after a prolonged period of dry and hot weather.

Looking ahead, the monsoon season is predicted to make its presence felt in Sindh around July 5 or 6. Meanwhile, Punjab and Kashmir are likely to welcome the onset of monsoon rains around June 29 or 30. This shift in weather patterns brings hope for cooler temperatures and much-needed precipitation across these regions.

The recent light showers in Karachi mark the beginning of a transition towards the monsoon season, offering respite from the scorching heat. With forecasts pointing towards more rain in the coming days and weeks, residents can look forward to a cooler and more pleasant climate. As we prepare for the monsoon's arrival, it's essential to stay informed about weather updates and be ready to embrace the changes that this season will bring.
