China-Pakistan Alliance Strengthened Through Decades

Pakistan and China recently marked the 73rd anniversary of their diplomatic ties, which were established on May 21, 1951. This enduring partnership has blossomed into a robust alliance over the years, with Pakistan being one of the first countries to recognize the People's Republic of China, laying the groundwork for a close and enduring bond.

The relationship between Pakistan and China has evolved into an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, characterized by mutual trust and respect. Regular high-level visits between the two nations have further cemented their strategic cooperation. Economically, China has emerged as Pakistan's largest trading partner and a significant investor, particularly in key sectors like infrastructure and energy projects.

The launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has taken bilateral relations to new heights. This flagship initiative aims to boost connectivity and infrastructure development between the two countries. Various projects under CPEC are underway to enhance infrastructure and energy generation, fostering economic growth and development.

People-to-people exchanges play a crucial role in strengthening the bond between Pakistan and China. Defence collaboration between the two countries is robust, encompassing military exchanges, joint exercises, and defence production.

China and Pakistan share a significant trade relationship, with China serving as Pakistan's largest trading partner and Pakistan ranking as China's second-largest trading partner in South Asia. A recent meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Kazakhstan reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation and further developing CPEC.
