Controversy surrounds upcoming Ukraine peace talks in Switzerland as Russia criticizes exclusion, US supports Ukraine, and Switzerland faces scrutiny over neutrality.

The upcoming Ukraine peace talks scheduled to take place in Switzerland in June have stirred controversy due to the absence of Russia's participation. The Kremlin has strongly criticized the conference, stating that any discussions on the Ukraine conflict without Russia are futile. The high-level conference, set for June 15-16 at the Burgenstock resort, aims to address the ongoing crisis but has already faced backlash from Russian officials.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the necessity of Russia's involvement in the peace process, dismissing the talks as meaningless without their participation. Russian President Vladimir Putin derided the conference, questioning its effectiveness during a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the proposed 'Zelensky formula,' which includes demands for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and financial reparations. She criticized Switzerland for allegedly favoring Ukraine's stance and excluding Russia from the dialogue.

The United States, while undecided on attending the conference, dismissed Russian claims that the summit was a political move by President Joe Biden's party. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller affirmed support for Ukraine's engagement in diplomatic efforts.

Switzerland, known for its neutrality, has faced scrutiny for its handling of the conference. Despite international backing for the peace talks, concerns remain over Russia's exclusion and the effectiveness of the proposed discussions.

The Ukraine peace talks in Switzerland have become a focal point of contention, with Russia's absence casting a shadow over the conference's potential outcomes. As diplomatic tensions persist, the international community awaits further developments in the efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
