UN Condemns Destruction of Gaza's Vital Medical Equipment

The Gaza Strip has been embroiled in a devastating conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants for over six months, resulting in a staggering death toll of at least 34,012. The ongoing war has left thousands dead and wounded, with hospitals struggling to cope with the influx of casualties.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that in the last 24 hours alone, 42 Palestinians lost their lives due to Israeli attacks, bringing the total death toll to 34,012. Additionally, 63 individuals were injured during this period, adding to the overall count of 76,833 wounded since the conflict began.

The United Nations has condemned the deliberate destruction of vital medical equipment in Gaza's hospitals, exacerbating the already dire conditions faced by women giving birth. Shocking reports reveal that essential equipment like ultrasounds have been purposefully damaged, hindering safe deliveries and maternal care.

With only a few hospitals capable of providing maternal health services, the situation is dire. The Emirati Hospital, Gaza's main maternity facility, is under immense strain, conducting up to 60 births daily, including high-risk procedures like Caesarian sections. Capacity constraints and lack of postnatal care pose significant risks to both mothers and newborns.
