The US Treasury's OFAC sanctions Mount Hebron Fund and Shlom Asiraich for funding violent extremists in the West Bank, aiming to promote peace and deter support for violent activities.

The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has taken action against two entities involved in fundraising for violent extremists Yinon Levi and David Chai Chasdai in the West Bank. Mount Hebron Fund and Shlom Asiraich raised $140,000 and $31,000, respectively, for these individuals, who were previously sanctioned for their violent activities.

Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo condemned the fundraising campaigns, stating that they supported extremists responsible for property destruction, assaults on civilians, and violence against Palestinians, undermining peace and stability in the region.

Following the designations of Levi and Chasdai on February 1, 2024, Mount Hebron Fund and Shlom Asiraich were designated by OFAC for their roles in supporting these individuals. Levi led violent groups that instilled fear in the West Bank through assaults, threats, and property destruction, while Chasdai orchestrated a riot resulting in the death of a Palestinian civilian.

As a result of the sanctions, all assets of the designated entities in the US or under US control are blocked. Transactions involving these entities are prohibited, and financial institutions engaging with them may face sanctions or enforcement actions.

Shlom Asiraich, an Israel-registered non-profit, has also supported other violent extremists, including those involved in high-profile attacks. The goal of these sanctions is to bring about a positive change in behavior and uphold peace and security in the West Bank.

The US government's actions against entities supporting violent extremists in the West Bank demonstrate a commitment to holding accountable those who threaten peace and stability in the region. By imposing sanctions on Mount Hebron Fund and Shlom Asiraich, the US aims to deter support for individuals engaged in violent activities and promote a safer environment for all residents of the West Bank.
