The Competition Commission of Pakistan has approved the acquisition of Actis Holdings by General Atlantic Partners, ensuring no dominance in the solar power industry and introducing expertise and investment into Pakistan's renewable energy sector.

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has approved the acquisition of Actis Holdings, a Luxembourg-based company operating in Pakistan's solar power sector, by General Atlantic Partners, L.P. (GA) from the United States. Actis Holdings, known for its investments in sustainable infrastructure, has a majority stake in Solis, the parent company of Yellow Door, a significant player in Pakistan's solar electricity market.

General Atlantic Partners, L.P. (GA), a growth equity firm founded in 1980 and headquartered in New York, specializes in providing capital and strategic guidance to companies globally. With a diverse portfolio across climate, consumer, healthcare, and technology sectors, GA aims to leverage its expertise in the Pakistani market through this acquisition.

The CCP's evaluation focused on the 'Power Generation – Solar' market segment, determining that Actis Holdings' current market share, primarily through Yellow Door, is less than 1% and is unlikely to change significantly post-acquisition. Therefore, GA's entry is not projected to create dominance in the solar power industry.

This acquisition is poised to introduce advanced technology, expertise, and investment into Pakistan's renewable energy landscape, fostering competition and innovation within the sector.
