Ibrahim Murad Boosts Pakistan's Meat Exports

Former Caretaker Provincial Minister for Livestock, Ibrahim Murad, has been lauded for his significant role in boosting Pakistan's meat exports, which saw a remarkable 55% increase, reaching $431 million from July 2023 to April 2024. This surge, amounting to 104,513 metric tons of meat and meat products, marks a substantial achievement for the country's economy.

Murad attributes this success to the unwavering dedication of farmers and underscores the importance of sincere intentions and determination in attaining such milestones. During his tenure under the former Caretaker Government of Punjab, innovative measures were introduced to revitalize the livestock sector. These initiatives included the establishment of disease-controlled compartments, the implementation of the Pakistan Animal Traceability and Identification System, and the distribution of hybrid protein forage over 37,000 acres to enhance meat quality.

Moreover, strategic projects such as the prohibition of smuggling and slaughtering of breeding female animals, cooperative farming programs, mobile veterinary laboratories, and genetic enhancement schemes played a pivotal role in propelling the growth of the livestock industry. Murad also highlighted the immense potential for Pakistan to tap into the lucrative $2 trillion international halal meat market, emphasizing the crucial role of improved livestock practices in reducing national debt and amplifying exports.

Looking ahead optimistically, Murad stresses the ongoing need for concerted efforts to harness Pakistan's abundant resources for economic advancement.
