Recognizing the superior quality of Pakistani rice, Oman is keen on increasing imports and exploring opportunities to export items like onions, potatoes, lentils, and mangoes from Karachi to Oman.

During a visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Omani delegation, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, discussed the potential for expanding trade cooperation. The Consul General commended Pakistan for its longstanding tradition of exporting high-quality rice and expressed interest in diversifying trade by introducing products such as sugar, textiles, towels, and other commodities to the Omani market.

Emphasizing the need for closer collaboration between businesses in Oman and Pakistan, the Consul General proposed regular expos to foster mutual understanding and boost trade opportunities. The Omani officials extended an invitation to Karachi's business community to explore trade prospects in Oman and African nations, underscoring the importance of sustained engagement to drive exports.

He suggested measures to overcome trade barriers, enhance product diversity, streamline customs procedures, support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and foster business partnerships to stimulate economic growth.

Sheikh also identified opportunities for collaboration in the energy sector, proposing the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and petroleum products from Oman to address Pakistan's energy needs. He pointed out the potential for Omani investments in Pakistan's Coastal Ecosystem and Special Economic Zones, particularly in Karachi and Gwadar, aligning with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.
