The Sindh government, led by Minister Dharejo, announces plans to establish new industrial zones in Karachi, focusing on infrastructure development and investment attraction to drive economic growth and create job opportunities in the region.

The Sindh government, under the leadership of Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, has announced ambitious plans to establish new industrial zones in various locations across the province, with a primary focus on Karachi. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to boost industrialization and attract both local and foreign investors, aiming to drive economic growth in the region.

Minister Dharejo revealed these plans during a meeting with the business community at the Federal-B Area Association of Trade and Industries (FBATI). The proposed industrial zones, including those in the Port Qasim area, are designed to enhance industrial activities, create job opportunities, and provide necessary infrastructure support for existing industrialists in Karachi.

The Sindh government is committed to allocating funds in the Annual Development Plan (ADP) to develop infrastructure in these zones and streamline operations for industrialists through a one-window system for issue resolution. Collaborative efforts with federal authorities are underway to ensure the provision of essential utilities like natural gas and electricity to residents and industries, in line with constitutional rights.

Moreover, plans are in motion to introduce a public-private partnership model to encourage the establishment of combined effluent plants in industrial zones, meeting international export standards. The President of FBATI stressed the importance of regular communication with industrialists to address industry challenges effectively and proposed financing schemes to support industrialists lacking capital for expansion.

Industry experts raised concerns about the deteriorating infrastructure and lack of facilities in existing industrial zones, urging the government to prioritize the development of neglected zones like Dhabeji, Site-3, and Larkana. Suggestions were made to implement streamlined processes based on international guidelines to support businesses in the region.

Proposals were also discussed to create an industrial belt spanning from Karachi to other major cities in Sindh to accommodate diverse industrial activities and provide necessary infrastructure for investors. It is crucial to revitalize the infrastructure of all industrial zones in Karachi promptly to attract investment and sustain economic growth.

The Sindh government's initiative to establish new industrial zones in Karachi signifies a significant step towards promoting industrialization, attracting investment, and creating job opportunities in the region. By addressing the concerns of industrialists and prioritizing infrastructure development, the government aims to foster a conducive environment for business growth and economic prosperity in Sindh.
