Ministry of Trade and Industry Collaborates with Urban Development Fund

The Minister of Trade and Industry recently engaged in discussions with the Chairperson of the Urban Development Fund to explore potential collaboration in supporting the craft sector associated with the Fund in Manshiyat Naser. The Fund has established a craft area covering 60 feddan in Manshiyat Naser, accommodating 905 workshops of various sizes, a vocational school, a commercial promenade, and an industrial development center.

A committee from the Ministry is set to conduct an inspection of the area to evaluate its technical support requirements and ensure adherence to industrial and environmental standards. The strategic layout and categorization of workshops are designed to meet developmental goals while benefiting the local community and neighboring areas.

Plans are in place to engage the Industry Renewal Center in promoting recycling initiatives such as electricity generation and fertilizer production. By integrating labor-intensive crafts and industries, opportunities for employment for youth in the vicinity are anticipated to increase.

Efforts are being made to establish connections between the craft area and nearby industrial zones to boost economic development through enhanced supply chains and collaboration with major industrial firms. The Ministry will provide support to the Urban Development Fund in setting up craft areas in different governorates to cater to local communities, in cooperation with the Industrial Development Authority.

The Urban Development Fund is collaborating closely with the Agency for Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises Development to secure funding for workshops in Manshiyat Naser, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary machinery and tools. The establishment of the craft area aligns with the Fund's objective of enhancing the aesthetic and urban landscape of Manshiyat Naser while driving industrial and developmental progress in the region. Collaboration with the Ministry and its affiliated agencies plays a crucial role in achieving these objectives.
