Pakistan and China Collaborate on Freight Wagon Production

In a significant development for Pakistan's railway industry, 40 freight wagons have been successfully produced locally, incorporating advanced Chinese technologies. This achievement highlights the country's progress in establishing domestic manufacturing capabilities for freight trains, reducing reliance on imports, and enhancing its economic self-sufficiency.

The collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese entities has resulted in the creation of wagons that have been widely praised for their performance and quality. The project, which commenced in December 2021, has already seen the delivery of 200 vehicles by 2023, with the remaining products scheduled for shipment in June 2024. The integration of all 820 new vehicles into Pakistan's railway system is expected to be completed by the end of the 2025-26 fiscal year.
