NCID's Aftab Ahmed Emphasizes Saudi Automotive Localization

Saudi Arabia's automotive sector is rapidly localizing in line with the government's Vision 2030 goals, as highlighted by a senior official at a recent seminar. Aftab Ahmed, a senior adviser at the National Center for Industrial Development, emphasized the shift towards domestic production of passenger vehicles and parts. This initiative aligns with the ambitious objectives of the National Industrial Strategy under Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to boost the Kingdom's automotive industry.

The seminar, organized by the Saudi-American Business Council in collaboration with the NCID, brought together over 100 industry leaders from Saudi Arabia and the US to discuss government initiatives, investment standards, and operational experiences in the sector. Key figures like Ceer CEO James DeLuca and Lucid Motors VP Faisal Sultan contributed to the dialogue, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and growth opportunities within the Kingdom's automotive sector.

NCID's CEO Khalil Ibn Salamah previously stated that Saudi Arabia aims to become a regional automotive industry hub, with Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Strategy reinforcing this commitment. The strategy focuses on transforming the sector into a globally competitive powerhouse by strengthening supply chains, enhancing financing landscapes, and promoting innovation and talent retention.

The National Industrial Strategy targets significant economic impacts by 2035, including a substantial increase in the industrial GDP contribution, job creation, exports, and localization rates. With a strong emphasis on innovation and growth, Saudi Arabia is poised to establish itself as a key player in the global automotive market.
