The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration, under DC Irfan Nawaz Memon, cracks down on traders violating official prices of essential goods to ensure fair pricing practices and consumer protection.
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has taken a firm stance against traders who are disregarding the official prices of essential goods within the Federal Capital. Led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, a recent operation overseen by Magistrate Saddar Zone, Mir Yamin, targeted the pricing practices of essential items in the area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarnol. The inspection covered a range of vendors, including those selling fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and groceries along the No. 26 Chungi to Tarnol railway crossing route.
The main goal of the inspection was to ensure that merchants were adhering to the mandated pricing regulations for essential commodities. During the operation, five shopkeepers were apprehended for not displaying official prices and conducting wholesale activities without proper authorization. These offenders were handed over to Police Station Tarnol for further legal action, accompanied by hefty fines.
The district administration has emphasized its dedication to conducting regular checks and imposing strict penalties on any vendors found violating the prescribed price guidelines. It is important to note that ongoing operations are being carried out to combat price hikes, address issues related to professional beggars, illegal petrol stations, unauthorized Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) filling outlets, and other infractions in the region.
The crackdown on traders flouting official prices of essential goods in Islamabad underscores the government's commitment to ensuring fair pricing practices and protecting consumers from exploitation. By enforcing regulations and taking decisive actions against violators, the authorities aim to create a transparent and accountable marketplace for all residents of the Federal Capital.
