Pakistan's rice exports, especially Basmati rice, have seen significant growth, contributing to a surge in overall food group exports. The country's agricultural sector and trade performance in the global market have been positively impacted.

Rice exports from Pakistan have shown a significant increase during the first three quarters of the current financial year. According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country witnessed an 83.37 percent rise in rice exports compared to the same period last year. From July to March 2023-24, Pakistan exported over 4.550 million metric tons of rice valued at $2.930 billion, marking a substantial growth from the 2.939 million metric tons worth $1.598 billion exported in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Specifically, Basmati rice exports saw a notable increase of 36.37 percent during this period. Over 545,220 metric tons of Basmati rice were exported, amounting to $622.345 million, in contrast to the 430,543 metric tons valued at $456.357 million exported in the same period last year.

In terms of other rice varieties, Pakistan earned $2.308 billion by exporting over 4.005 million metric tons, a significant jump from the 2.508 million metric tons valued at $1.114 billion exported in the same period of the previous year.

Overall, the food group exports from Pakistan surged by 48.17 percent during the first three quarters of the current financial year. Food commodities worth $5.651 billion were exported, showcasing a substantial increase from the $3.814 billion exported in the same period of the previous year.

In conclusion, Pakistan's rice exports, particularly Basmati rice, have experienced remarkable growth, contributing significantly to the country's overall food group exports. The substantial increase in export volumes and values reflects positively on Pakistan's agricultural sector and trade performance in the global market.
