SIFC and Green Tourism Company Revitalize Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism

Gilgit-Baltistan is undergoing a significant transformation in its tourism sector with the initiation of the Sustainable Investment Facilitation Cell's (SIFC) Green Tourism project. This project aims to revitalize the region's tourism industry by enhancing infrastructure and creating employment opportunities. A recent partnership between the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan and a Green Tourism Company has paved the way for this positive change.

Under the agreement, 44 dilapidated government guest houses in Gilgit-Baltistan are set to undergo extensive modern renovations. These guest houses, which were previously a financial burden on the government and offered limited services to the public, will now be revamped to attract more tourists and provide better accommodation facilities.

The SIFC was established with the objective of attracting investments from friendly nations in specific sectors, including tourism, by providing a simplified platform for potential investors. Operating as a 'single-window' facilitation organization, the SIFC follows a 'Whole of Government Approach' to improve the ease of doing business. By promoting collaboration across different government departments and leveraging the expertise of the Pakistan Army, the SIFC aims to streamline the investment process and create a favorable environment for investors.

The collaboration between the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Green Tourism Company, facilitated by the SIFC, marks a significant step towards revitalizing the tourism sector in the region.
