Sindh Government Introduces Third-Party System for Food Licenses

The Sindh government has taken a significant step by introducing a new third-party system for the issuance of food licenses. This decision was made during the 10th meeting of the Sindh Food Authority board, chaired by Provincial Minister for Food, Jam Khan Shoro. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Former Member of the Sindh Assembly Ghanwar Isran, the Provincial Secretary of Food, and the Director General of the Food Control Authority, along with representatives from the business community.

During the meeting, several agenda items were discussed, and three were unanimously approved. Additionally, seven committees were formed to address various issues. Minister Jam Khan Shoro announced the establishment of a committee dedicated to enhancing the food licensing process through the introduction of a third-party system. The main goal of this initiative is to enhance the efficiency of the food authority's operations and reduce the burden on the business community.

Minister Shoro reiterated the government's commitment to providing high-quality food to the public, emphasizing it as a top priority. Director General Agha Fakhar highlighted the authority's achievements, including imposing fines totaling Rs 103,057 million between 2018 and 2023 and collecting fees amounting to Rs 357,642 million from 2018 to 2024.

The implementation of the new third-party system for food licenses by the Sindh government marks a significant milestone in enhancing the efficiency and transparency of food licensing processes. This move not only aims to streamline operations but also underscores the government's dedication to ensuring the availability of safe and high-quality food for the public.
