Amir Tanba, infamous for murdering Sarbjit Singh, tragically dies in a targeted attack, raising security concerns in the region amidst accusations of external involvement.

Amir Sarfaraz, also known as Amir Tanba, who infamously murdered Indian terrorist Sarbjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat Jail in 2013, tragically passed away on Sunday due to gunshot wounds sustained in a targeted attack earlier that day. The incident took place in his residence in the Islampura area, where unidentified assailants on motorcycles opened fire on him, resulting in critical injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Amir Tanba could not survive the severity of his wounds.

Amir Tanba, who had been released from jail some time ago, was previously involved in the murder of Sarbjit Singh alongside another individual named Mudassir. The duo had attacked Singh with iron rods and bricks while he was detained in Kot Lakhpat Jail. Although a murder case was registered against them, they were ultimately acquitted due to insufficient evidence.

This recent incident adds to a series of targeted attacks in the region, including the assassination of Jaish-e-Mohammad leader Shahid Latif last year and a car bombing outside the residence of Hafiz Saeed, the leader of the banned organization Jamat ul Dawat (JeD) in June 2021. These incidents have raised concerns about security and potential external involvement, with Pakistan accusing India's state agency RAW of orchestrating some of these attacks.

The tragic demise of Amir Tanba serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing tensions and violence in the region, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures and vigilance to prevent such incidents in the future.
