An investigation is underway into an incident at Karachi airport where a female pilgrim's hair was cut by ASF personnel. The Ministry of Aviation has formed an inquiry board to review passenger screening procedures and ensure accountability in airport security.

An investigation has been initiated into an incident at Karachi airport where a female pilgrim's hair was reportedly cut due to suspicion. The incident involved Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel and has prompted the Ministry of Aviation to form a four-member board of inquiry (BoI) to delve into the matter.

The BoI's responsibilities include examining the incident that took place on June 1 when ASF officials stopped Ms. Seema Bano and her husband, Muhammad Shafi Ahmed, who were on their way to Haj via flight SV-701. Despite having clearance from the Anti-Narcotics Force, ASF staff expressed concerns and proceeded to cut Bano's hair. After additional screening, Bano was eventually allowed to board the flight.

The inquiry board has been tasked with investigating the incident thoroughly, establishing the facts surrounding the case, and determining accountability for the actions taken. Additionally, the BoI will review passenger screening procedures at the airport and evaluate the roles of relevant government bodies in passenger screening to prevent such incidents in the future.

It is crucial to ensure the safety and dignity of all passengers, especially during sensitive travel such as pilgrimage. The investigation into this incident aims to shed light on what transpired and to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Transparency and accountability are essential in maintaining trust and upholding standards in airport security procedures.
