Canadian High Commissioner Leslie Scanlon recently met with Pakistan's Interior Minister and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, to address various important issues concerning both countries. The meeting primarily focused on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in areas such as border security, immigration, illegal human trafficking, and drug trafficking.

During the meeting, Minister Naqvi reiterated Pakistan's dedication to securing its borders and combatting illegal activities like human trafficking. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of relevant institutions and enhance the immigration system. Minister Naqvi also proposed expediting the visa issuance process through an electronic travel authorization system to provide visas within 24 hours.

Moreover, Minister Naqvi suggested the idea of skilled manpower migration from Pakistan to Canada as a strategy to counter illegal human trafficking. He reassured the High Commissioner of Pakistan's commitment to upholding the rights of all minorities as per the country's constitution and ensuring their protection. Additionally, Pakistan is actively assisting in the migration of Afghan refugees to Canada.
