The Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS) in Lahore recently held a seminar focusing on the Indus Water Treaty and its implications for Pakistan's water security. The event highlighted the challenges faced by the Treaty due to India's changing political dynamics and hyper-nationalism. Speakers emphasized the importance of cooperation in securing a shared water future for the region.

Dr. Bilal Ghazanfar, from CASS, stressed the need for cooperation over conflict in managing water resources. Engineer Suleman Najib Khan discussed India's aggressive water policies, calling for Pakistan to enhance its water security by building the Indus Cascade. Environmental lawyer Ahmed Rafay Alam emphasized the importance of defending Pakistan's water rights legally and seeking international support to resolve disputes.

Renowned hydrologist Dr. Hassan Abbas framed the Treaty as a catalyst for environmental peacebuilding, advocating for a holistic approach to water management. Air Marshal Asim Suleiman (Retd) reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to the Treaty's principles and urged India to uphold its responsibilities in maintaining regional peace.
