Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJ) Qazi Faez Isa has highlighted the issue of wasteful expenditure on unnecessary security structures at Government Officers Residences (GOR) in Lahore. During his recent stay at a rest house in Lahore's GOR, CJ Isa observed a concerning trend of excessive security measures being implemented.

The CJ expressed dismay over the construction of unauthorized rooms for security guards on open green areas within the GOR, despite the restricted entry and stringent security checks in place. He questioned the rationale behind erecting walls around each residence within the GOR, emphasizing the need to reevaluate the use of public resources for such purposes.

In a letter addressed to the Punjab chief secretary, CJ Isa requested clarification on the legality of these constructions and urged for a review of the applicable rules and regulations governing building structures within the GOR. He also raised the issue of deviating from the previous practice of installing fences, calling for a justification of this shift in approach.

Justice Isa's concerns come in the context of his recent visit to Lahore to preside over cases at the Supreme Court's Lahore Registry. Following his stay in Lahore, the CJ is set to lead a bench at the Supreme Court's Karachi registry to hear a range of civil and criminal cases.

As the judiciary continues to uphold transparency and accountability, CJ Qazi Faez Isa's stance on curbing unnecessary expenditures on security measures reflects a commitment to efficient governance and prudent use of public funds.
