Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has expressed serious concerns over the prolonged power outages in the province, warning of potential public backlash. In a recent meeting chaired by the chief minister, high-ranking officials gathered to discuss the pressing issue of electricity load-shedding.

The meeting delved into the impact of power cuts, especially during the recent Eid ul Adha festival, despite promises of uninterrupted electricity supply. Officials updated on efforts to recover outstanding dues totaling nearly one billion rupees from areas with high losses in the past month.

Security measures for PESCO installations and staff were addressed, with dedicated police teams deployed in each district for safety. However, despite these efforts, significant load-shedding during the holiday period led to widespread public discontent.

Since May 1, there have been 81 protests against unscheduled power outages, with women participating in demonstrations for the first time. CM Gandapur stressed the urgent need for the federal government to fulfill its commitments and tackle the power-related issues affecting residents.

Highlighting the escalating frustration among the public, Gandapur warned of potential law and order challenges if the situation is not promptly resolved. He urged the federal government to take immediate action to address the grievances and prevent further unrest.

In a recent incident, CM Gandapur personally intervened by visiting a grid station in Dera Ismail Khan to address the power supply issue, emphasizing the severity of the situation and the government's commitment to finding solutions.

The concerns raised by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur regarding the prolonged power outages in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa highlight the pressing need for swift action to alleviate the situation. The public's frustration is mounting, and addressing these power-related issues is crucial to maintaining peace and order in the province.
