The Cyberknife Radiation Oncology service at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi, Pakistan, has received prestigious recognition from the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) in the United Kingdom. This acknowledgment highlights the government's commitment to healthcare in Sindh and the well-being of its residents.

The Royal College of Radiologists honored the Cyberknife-Radiation Oncology services at JPMC Karachi, emphasizing a significant milestone for the province and the country. This recognition underscores the value of the free cancer treatment facility established through a partnership between the Government of Sindh and the Patients Aid Foundation at JPMC Karachi.

Founded in 1897, The Royal College of Radiologists is a renowned institution in the fields of Radiology and Radiation Oncology. The recent Honorary Fellowship awarded to Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood, a leading figure in radiology and radiation oncology in Pakistan, marks a historic achievement as the first Pakistani and Muslim Professor to receive this prestigious accolade.

Dr. Tariq Mahmood, recognized for his public service and medical contributions, expressed gratitude to the Sindh Chief Minister and Health Minister for their support in acquiring advanced medical equipment for JPMC Karachi. The donation of cutting-edge technology like the Cyberknife S7 unit and Tomotherapy X9 unit has significantly improved treatment capabilities at the facility.

Since 2012, JPMC has been a pioneer in offering free cancer treatment through Cyberknife and Tomotherapy, serving patients from various regions. The Radiation Oncology department at JPMC is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Cyberknife units, Tomotherapy units, and Equinox 100, establishing it as a global leader in advanced cancer treatment.

These advanced technologies provide precise treatments for various cancers such as prostate, brain, spine, lung, liver, and head & neck cancers. Additionally, the department offers free PET-CT scans and plans to expand services to conduct over 4000 scans in the upcoming fiscal year, demonstrating a commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services.
