Jialu Feather Products Co. lauds customs reform

Guigang, a city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, has recently implemented a pilot reform for imported washed feather and down customs clearance supervision, significantly reducing time and economic costs for businesses. General Manager Yang Chaodong of Jialu Feather Products Co., Ltd. praised the new model for clearing customs in just eight days, 17 days faster than the traditional process via Hong Kong.

The down industry is a key sector in Guigang, with 170 processing enterprises handling around 90,000 tons of feathers and down annually. Despite its strong domestic production, about 40% of raw materials are imported, creating an annual demand of 30,000 to 50,000 tons. To support industry growth, the General Administration of Customs introduced measures to optimize customs clearance supervision, leveraging the resources of Qinzhou Port, Guigang Port, and local customs.

The pilot reform includes coordinated inspections, risk prevention, technology-enabled supervision, and enhanced enterprise responsibility. Nanning Customs has established a dedicated working group to ensure smooth implementation, with a focus on epidemic prevention, smart quarantine facilities, and enterprise guidance.

Looking ahead, the construction of the Pingtang River Estuary-Luwu Town Canal (Pinglu Canal) will further boost the industry by allowing direct transfer of imported materials to Guigang Port in just half a day. This development is expected to attract more down product companies to Guigang, fostering high-quality industry growth and enhancing the city's industrial cluster.
