Journalist Nasrullah Gadani laid to rest after fatal attack

On Friday, journalist Nasrullah Gadani was laid to rest in Ghotki after succumbing to bullet wounds earlier in the day. Gadani, associated with a Sindhi newspaper, was shot by unidentified gunmen while riding his motorcycle near Korai Goth, 12 kilometres from Mirpur Mathelo. He was rushed to Civil Hospital Mirpur Mathelo for emergency medical aid and later transferred to Rahim Yar Khan for surgery. Despite efforts to save him, Gadani passed away on Friday morning in Karachi.

Following his death, journalists boycotted the Sindh Assembly proceedings, demanding justice for Gadani. The Sindh government assured to cover all medical expenses and announced the arrest of three suspects, promising to apprehend the killers within a week. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed sadness over Gadani's demise and called for swift action against the perpetrators. He praised Gadani's contributions to journalism and instructed the Sindh Home and Information Departments to enhance journalist protection in the province.

Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar confirmed the arrests and pledged to bring the culprits to justice. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, and other officials also mourned Gadani's death, emphasizing the importance of upholding press freedom and ensuring journalists' safety.
