Journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa face deadly attacks

A tragic incident unfolded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Landi Kotal town as a well-known journalist fell victim to unidentified gunmen near his residence. The journalist, who worked for a private news channel and had previously served as a press club president, was ambushed while returning home with a friend. The assailants, in a brazen attack, surrounded his vehicle, forcibly removed him, and fatally shot him on the spot. Tragically, the journalist lost his life instantly, while his companion sustained injuries during the assault. The perpetrators swiftly fled the scene, leaving behind a shocked community in the Mazreena area near the Landi Kotal Police Station.

Law enforcement authorities disclosed that the journalist had been targeted before by terrorist threats, prompting the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the unknown assailants. Terrorism charges were swiftly added to the case as investigations commenced. The journalist's body underwent a post mortem examination at a local hospital before being laid to rest in his hometown. In a separate distressing incident, another journalist faced a similar fate when he was attacked while riding his motorcycle, resulting in critical injuries. Despite receiving medical assistance, the journalist succumbed to his wounds a few days later. The government had stepped in to cover his medical expenses, but unfortunately, the journalist could not recover from the vicious assault.
