Over 300 individuals are currently under investigation for their involvement in a rioting case that took place outside the K-Electric office in Sharifabad, Karachi. The incident occurred during a protest against prolonged power outages in the area. The protesters, including women and children, reportedly caused damage to the property of the power utility, leading to a tense situation.

The police, under the leadership of Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi, are actively working to identify the culprits by reviewing video footage of the incident. Despite the chaos that ensued, no arrests have been made so far as the authorities gather evidence to take appropriate action against those responsible.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed regarding the incident, the protest turned violent on Monday afternoon when a large group gathered outside the K-Electric office armed with placards, sticks, and stones. Security guards attempted to prevent the protesters from entering the premises, but some individuals managed to break in through the back entrance, prompting the intervention of law enforcement.

Upon the arrival of the police, the crowd dispersed, leaving behind a trail of destruction. K-Electric vehicles parked outside the office were targeted, resulting in damage to several of them. Additionally, security cameras were destroyed, and some were taken by the demonstrators, as alleged by a K-Electric employee who filed the complaint. The employee accused the protesters of inciting violence, vandalism, and making threats, calling for legal action against the unidentified individuals involved.

The incident highlights the importance of peaceful protest and the consequences of resorting to violence. It serves as a reminder of the need for constructive dialogue between the public and utility providers to address grievances effectively and maintain law and order in the community.
