Mayor Zubair Ali to Restore Historic Peshawar Well

The district government of Peshawar has announced plans to restore a historic water well that dates back 250 years. The decision was made by Mayor Haji Zubair Ali during a visit to the Chah Kala area of the city. The well, known locally as 'Kaley de Kohi' or 'Well of a black man,' was originally built to supply water to the residents of Peshawar. Legend has it that the well was named after a Bhishti, a water carrier with a dark complexion, who used to deliver water to homes in the area. Despite falling into disuse over the years, the well has retained its name, passed down through generations.

Mayor Zubair Ali, intrigued by the history of the well, has decided to revive and renovate it. He has instructed officials to begin the paperwork for the restoration project, with the aim of preserving this piece of Peshawar's rich heritage for future generations to appreciate.

The initiative to restore the ancient water well in Peshawar is a commendable effort to reconnect with the city's past and educate the younger population about its historical significance.
