Ministry of Public Health reports Congo fever surge

In a concerning development, the Ministry of Public Health has reported a significant rise in cases of Congo fever across the country. Over the past two weeks, twenty individuals have tragically lost their lives to this deadly disease. The total number of cases for this month has soared to 265, marking a fourfold increase compared to the previous month.

Physician Medad Khan Danishwar has stressed the critical importance of following health protocols, especially during patient care and animal slaughter. It has been observed that many affected individuals either work as butchers or have close contact with animals carrying the virus.

One patient, Amir Khan, shared his harrowing experience of contracting Congo fever during Eid. He described symptoms such as diarrhea and bleeding, which eventually subsided with timely medical intervention.

Similarly, Omar Khan and caregiver Faiz Rahman recounted their challenges with ineffective treatments before finding relief in specialized hospitals. The healthcare professionals at infectious diseases hospitals are currently treating forty patients for Congo fever, with Dr. Ehsanullah Hakimi emphasizing the hospital's enhanced focus on resources for managing these cases.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Health, the month of May witnessed 84 cases of Congo fever, resulting in ten fatalities. The situation remains critical, urging the public to prioritize health guidelines and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms arise.

The surge in Congo fever cases demands heightened awareness and proactive measures from both individuals and healthcare facilities.
