The Ministry of Federal Education launches an initiative to provide free transportation for female students and teachers in Islamabad Capital Territory Schools, aiming to combat the rising dropout rate among girls due to inadequate transport facilities.

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has launched a significant initiative to address the transportation challenges faced by female students and women teachers in Islamabad Capital Territory Schools. Around 20 buses from federal educational institutions will be mobilized, in collaboration with the district administration, to provide free transportation for female students and teachers in both urban and rural areas of the federal capital.

These dedicated buses, painted in pink for easy identification, aim to combat the rising dropout rate among girls resulting from inadequate transport facilities. The Secretary of Education highlighted that an internal audit revealed that thirty percent of the total 385 buses in federal educational institutions were out of service due to budget constraints, lack of drivers, and delayed maintenance.

By June 15, these buses will be operational, offering transportation services exclusively for women and girls. Additionally, the Ministry plans to open up these services to all women, depending on seat availability. This initiative marks a crucial step towards ensuring safe and accessible transportation for female students and teachers in the Islamabad Capital Territory Schools.
