MQM-London Suspect Captured in Joint Operation

An individual believed to be involved in targeted killings and robberies, allegedly associated with the MQM-London faction, was captured in a joint operation by Rangers and Karachi police in the Eidgah area near Civil Hospital. The suspect, identified as Mohammed Hamid aka Hamid Piya, is accused of leading a gang of robbers and engaging in politically and ethnically motivated crimes. During the operation, a hand grenade was confiscated from the suspect.

Hamid, formerly associated with MQM before joining MQM-London, confessed to his involvement in targeted killings dating back to 1994, including the murder of a police officer. He also admitted to participating in bank robberies, looting gold from jewellery shops, and stealing from cargo containers between 2007 and 2008. Additionally, Hamid revealed his role in extortion activities in Lyari and supplying weapons to MQM-L members and gang elements in the area.

The suspect had been on the run since 2014, moving across different cities to evade authorities. It was disclosed that eleven first information reports had been lodged against him at various police stations in Karachi.
