Obaid Ullah arrested for extortion ties with Iranian group

An alleged operative of the Ahmed Magsi group, Obaid Ullah, was arrested by the PIB Colony police on charges of extortion. During the arrest, illegal weapons and mobile phones were seized from him. It was revealed that the suspect had ties with a group in Iran for carrying out extortion activities. He had demanded ransom from a cloth merchant in Iran and shared sensitive information with an individual in Iran.

Following complaints, cases have been registered against the suspect, and he is set to be transferred to the SIU for further legal proceedings. Telephone records and voice recordings from his phone have been retrieved for investigative purposes. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation, and efforts are underway to apprehend his associates.

In a statement, SSP East Dr. Farrukh Raza highlighted the connection of the arrested individual with the Ahmed Magsi group and their collaboration with an Iranian group for extortion schemes.
