Pakistan Railways achieves record revenue, lauded by PAJCCI for management decisions and cargo train recommendation to boost earnings and enhance bilateral trade.

Pakistan Railways has reached a significant milestone by increasing its annual revenue to a record high of Rs. 66 billion in just nine months of the current year. The Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) has lauded this achievement and recommended the introduction of cargo trains to further boost earnings.

The Coordinator of PAJCCI KP, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, expressed his appreciation for the management decisions made by Chairman Mazhar Ali Shah and GM Amir Baloch, which have led to the revival of public trust in the Railways. He highlighted that despite being the safest and most cost-effective mode of transportation in the country, Railways had lost passengers to buses and other alternatives due to management deficiencies.

Sarhadi emphasized that by continuing to improve services and introducing cargo trains, Pakistan Railways could attract more passengers and significantly increase its revenue over time. He specifically suggested launching cargo trains from Karachi to Peshawar to facilitate the business community, especially those involved in Pak-Afghan trade.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the transportation of loose cargo by Railways would not only benefit local exporters and importers but also help reduce the financial burden on businesses caused by rising fuel prices and high truck transportation costs.

In conclusion, the implementation of cargo trains by Pakistan Railways is seen as a strategic move that will not only enhance the transportation sector but also foster increased bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, ultimately benefiting the economy and business community at large.
