RPO Siddiqui Leads Police Response in Sargodha Protest

On a Saturday morning in Sargodha, a protest unfolded following accusations against a member of the minority community for committing a sacrilegious act. The incident took place in Mujahid Colony, where enraged protesters entered a house, attacked the accused, and caused damage to property, including his residence and a small shoe workshop. To address the escalating situation, a substantial number of police officers were dispatched to handle the growing crowd. Both uniformed and plainclothes officers successfully evacuated the injured suspect in an ambulance amidst the mounting tension.

As the size of the mob increased, the district police officer of Khushab, the regional police officer, and local peace committee members rushed to the scene to help restore peace. A heavily armed police contingent marched through the streets to disperse the protesters and assert authority. RPO Sharique Kamal Siddiqui confirmed the transfer of the injured individual to the hospital. He also noted that the protesters had pelted stones at the police, resulting in injuries to several officers. Nevertheless, the police effectively dispersed the protesters and regained control of the situation. RPO Siddiqui further mentioned that some individuals suspected of inciting the protest had been apprehended.
