Akhunzada Chattan urges action on anti-terrorism policy

Akhunzada Chattan, a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has urged Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur to convene a session of the Provincial Assembly to develop a comprehensive anti-terrorism policy. Chattan criticized the Chief Minister for focusing on corner meetings and protests instead of addressing terrorism through the assembly's mechanisms. He proposed that if the Chief Minister does not take action, the Governor should call the session in consultation with the Prime Minister and President. Chattan highlighted the pressing need for action, pointing out the impact of terrorism on local residents, armed forces, and police in the province. He suggested the formation of a 'Representative Jirga' involving locals from affected areas to effectively combat terrorism, emphasizing the importance of local participation. Chattan also called for the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and a review of policies with Afghanistan to address the issue.
