An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad issues warning to KP CM and PTI leader for failing to appear, emphasizing evidence-based proceedings and commitment to fair justice.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued a warning to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other suspects for failing to appear before the court. The warning came during a hearing related to alleged vandalism and violation of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) involving PTI founder Imran Khan and other party leaders.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra expressed concern over the absence of KP CM Gandapur and PTI leader Amir Mughal, stating that they could be declared as 'absconders' if they fail to appear. The court emphasized that requests for exemption from appearance would not be entertained and issued non-bailable warrants for absentee suspects.

Lawyers representing the suspects acknowledged their clients' responsibility and requested another chance for them to appear in the next hearing. Judge Supra warned that failure to appear on July 8 would result in immediate 'absconder' status without the usual 30-day grace period. He stressed that the cases would only proceed based on substantial evidence.

Additionally, the court sought a written reply from the Superintendent of Adiala jail regarding the possibility of the PTI founder appearing via video link. Both cases have been adjourned until July 8, with a commitment to daily hearings starting from the next session.

The ATC's warning to declare absentee suspects as 'absconders' underscores the importance of complying with legal proceedings. The court's emphasis on evidence-based proceedings highlights the commitment to fair justice. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
