Former Punjab chief minister, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, faces delays in court appearances due to health issues from jail injuries. Allegations of corruption, illegal appointments, and kickbacks remain pending.

The indictment of former Punjab chief minister, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, and others in two corruption cases faced another delay due to health reasons. Adiala Jail officials cited a medical report stating that Elahi sustained injuries from a fall in the jail washroom, leading to the postponement of his appearance in court. The Anti-Corruption Court Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta rescheduled the indictment and further hearing related to illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly to May 2.

The case, filed by ACE Punjab, alleges Elahi of involvement in unlawful appointments and kickbacks. The accusations claim that under Elahi's influence, qualified candidates were overlooked in favor of individuals who did not undergo the required exams. The ACE asserts that Elahi, as the former chief minister, abused his power by manipulating appointments in exchange for bribes.

Similarly, an accountability court also delayed the indictment of Elahi and other defendants in a separate case involving kickbacks from development projects investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

In light of these delays, the legal proceedings against Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and his co-accused remain pending, awaiting his recovery from the reported injuries before the next court appearance.
