Chaudhry Parvez Elahi Indictment Delayed in Corruption Case

An anti-corruption court in Lahore has once again delayed the indictment of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and others in a case involving illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly. The postponement was due to the absence of two co-accused, Muhammad Amin and Haider Shafqat, which the court strongly criticized as a deliberate attempt to hinder the legal process.

The court has instructed the jail authorities to ensure that Parvez Elahi receives necessary medication while in custody. The indictment proceedings have been rescheduled for May 21. The accusation suggests that qualified candidates were overlooked in favor of individuals who did not undergo required examinations. The ACE asserts that Parvez Elahi, as the former chief minister, misused his authority by influencing appointments in exchange for bribes.
