Governor Faisal Kundi raises concerns on the appointment process of vice chancellors in KP universities, emphasizing transparency and supporting educational empowerment for marginalized communities.

The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, has raised significant concerns regarding the appointment process of vice chancellors in the province's universities. During the Annual Convocation 2024 of Allama Iqbal Open University in Peshawar, Governor Kundi highlighted issues surrounding the selection of vice chancellors and emphasized the need for transparency and adherence to legal procedures.

Governor Kundi refuted claims made by the lawyer of the KP government in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, stating that no approval had been received at the governor house for the selection of vice chancellors. He urged the Chief Justice to address the inaccuracies and ensure a fair process for appointing vice chancellors in KP universities.

Despite the completion of the selection process for vice chancellors in 24 universities, Governor Kundi noted that the appointments had not been finalized. He called upon the Chief Minister of KP to expedite the process to address administrative and educational challenges faced by these institutions.

Commending Allama Iqbal Open University for its dedication to providing quality education, Governor Kundi praised the institution's efforts in offering free education to marginalized communities, including transgender individuals, martyrs' children, and soldiers' offspring. He acknowledged the university's role in producing over five million graduates in its 50-year history and distributed degrees and gold medals to outstanding students during the convocation.

Expressing concerns about the lack of focus on quality education and research in KP, Governor Kundi highlighted the importance of continued financial support from the Higher Education Commission to sustain educational grants for universities in the province. He lauded the university's establishment of regional campuses and model study centers, emphasizing its commitment to expanding educational opportunities for marginalized populations.

Governor Faisal Kundi's remarks shed light on the challenges facing the appointment process of vice chancellors in KP universities and underscored the significance of ensuring transparency and adherence to legal procedures. His support for Allama Iqbal Open University's initiatives in providing free education to marginalized groups reflects a commitment to educational empowerment and inclusivity in the province.
