The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam challenges Sadaf Ihsan's election to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, raising concerns about legitimacy and transparency in electoral processes.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has taken a bold step by challenging the election of Sadaf Ihsan to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in the Supreme Court. Sadaf Ihsan was elected on the reserved seats for women, but the JUI has raised concerns about the legitimacy of her election.

The JUI filed a petition in the Supreme Court, contesting the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) regarding Sadaf Ihsan's election. The party is seeking the suspension of the notification that declared Sadaf Ihsan as a member of the K-P Assembly. According to the JUI, Sadaf Ihsan's name was not included in the party's priority list submitted for the reserved seats. Instead, the party claims that Sadaf Yasmeen was the designated candidate on their list, but she did not express interest in the seat.

The JUI alleges that Sadaf Ihsan managed to secure Sadaf Yasmeen's seat with the help of certain party members. When the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) initiated an inquiry into the matter, Sadaf Ihsan approached the PHC, which subsequently approved her writ and ordered the issuance of the notification confirming her as a member of the assembly. The JUI contends that the PHC's decision goes against the Constitution and the law.

The legal battle over Sadaf Ihsan's election to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly highlights the complexities and controversies that can arise in the electoral process. The JUI's challenge in the Supreme Court underscores the importance of upholding transparency and fairness in elections, ensuring that the democratic principles are upheld.
