Minister Tarar vows support for media industry reforms

The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has reaffirmed the government's determination to prioritize and resolve the challenges encountered by journalists, media workers, and media houses. In separate meetings with the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors, and Pakistan Broadcasters Association, Tarar pledged to take concrete actions to ensure the well-being of media workers and organizations.

During the discussions, Tarar acknowledged the difficulties faced by media workers and journalists and assured that practical measures would be implemented to safeguard their rights. He also emphasized the government's commitment to providing necessary facilities and support to the media industry. Tarar further assured the office bearers of his full cooperation in expediting the clearance of pending dues owed to media houses.

Highlighting the government's efforts, Tarar mentioned that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had approved a supplementary grant for the settlement of media houses' arrears and dues. He underscored the Ministry of Information's role in facilitating communication between the government, journalists, and media houses.

Moreover, Tarar discussed economic issues and reiterated the government's dedication to addressing these challenges in alignment with the vision of PM Shehbaz Sharif. Initiatives such as the digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue were highlighted as part of the government's strategy to promote a documented economy and ensure economic stability.

In response, representatives from various media organizations expressed their support for the government's economic stability initiatives and appreciated the Minister for his assistance in fund disbursement. The upcoming issuance of health cards for journalists' medical treatment was also announced as part of the government's efforts to protect the rights and well-being of media workers.
