PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Zardari Commemorate Labor Day

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government's dedication to enhancing labor welfare and aligning domestic workforce laws with global standards on the occasion of Labor Day. This annual holiday, celebrated on May 1, originated from the labor union movement's advocacy for an eight-hour workday. The day serves to acknowledge workers' contributions to society and raise awareness about their rights, combatting exploitation, and improving working conditions.

Various public and private organizations are hosting events like conferences, seminars, marches, and walks to honor the holiday. PM Sharif acknowledged the sacrifices of workers and emphasized the government's focus on improving occupational safety and health. He plans to convene the National Tripartite Labor Conference soon to address these issues.

President Asif Ali Zardari also praised the laborers' historic struggle and emphasized the government's commitment to upholding their dignity. He highlighted the challenges faced by workers in Pakistan, including unemployment, inflation, and climate change impacts. Zardari called on employers to ensure fair wages, worker safety, and necessary training for those in hazardous environments.
