Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a significant step towards boosting investment in the country by forming the Cabinet Committee for the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). This move aims to streamline and enhance investment efforts in the nation, signaling a strong commitment to economic growth and development.

The establishment of the Cabinet Committee on SIFC was confirmed through a notification released by the Cabinet Division. The committee, headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, comprises key members including the Army Chief and Chief Ministers. It is composed of 12 cabinet members and six external members, representing crucial ministries such as defence, finance, planning and development, IT, food security, water and electricity, law and justice, investment, industry and production, and petroleum.

Decisions made by the cabinet committee will undergo further review by the federal cabinet, ensuring a comprehensive and thorough evaluation process. The secretariat of the committee will be housed within the office of SIFC, which operates under the Rules of Business, 1973.
