Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directs power sector reforms, emphasizes efficiency, and monitors Saudi investments for economic growth and international partnerships.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to expedite the privatization and outsourcing of power distribution companies to enhance efficiency. During a high-level meeting, he emphasized the need for private sector expertise and global models to improve management of distribution companies. Sharif also called for a comprehensive plan to enhance the power system and reduce circular debt. Measures to prevent power theft and reorganize the National Transmission and Dispatch Company were discussed, including the construction of new transmission lines.

Furthermore, Sharif vowed to combat electricity theft and safeguard the country's treasury. He stressed the importance of completing all reform initiatives within the set timeframe to bring about positive changes in the power sector.

In a separate meeting, Sharif expressed his commitment to closely monitor Saudi investment projects in Pakistan. He praised the Saudi delegation for fostering new investment opportunities and trade partnerships. Sharif instructed relevant authorities to engage global experts for project execution and enhance ministry capacities for successful outcomes.

The discussions with the Saudi delegation covered investment prospects in mining, agriculture, energy, information technology, and infrastructure development. Both sides explored the potential for Pakistan to become part of the global supply chain, highlighting Pakistan's readiness for such integration.
