The district administration in Lahore enforces new roti and naan prices, leading to arrests and fines to ensure fair pricing and prevent exploitation.

In a bid to enforce the newly revised prices for roti and naan, the district administration in Lahore has taken strict action against non-compliance. The revised prices stand at Rs 16 for roti and Rs 20 for naan. A total of 28 individuals have been arrested, and 33 cases have been registered for price-related violations.

During the crackdown, enforcement teams inspected 1,330 roti and naan points across the city. Out of these, 1,243 points were found to be selling bread at the official prices, while violations were observed at 87 points. Tandoors found selling roti and naan above the approved rates have been fined a total of Rs 80,000.

The enforcement action was carried out by assistant commissioners and price control magistrates, who conducted checks in various tehsils of Lahore. This initiative follows the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who aims to ensure the implementation of the new pricing structure.

The approved rates of Rs 16 for a 100-gram roti and Rs 20 for a 120-gram naan are being strictly monitored by the district administration. Citizens are urged to report any discrepancies in roti and naan prices by contacting the helpline at 0800003245.

The crackdown on roti and naan prices in Lahore reflects the government's commitment to regulating food prices and ensuring affordability for the citizens. With the active enforcement of the new pricing structure, the district administration is taking concrete steps to prevent price exploitation and promote fair trade practices in the city.
