Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chairs meeting to enhance prosecution system by focusing on improving legal quality of FIRs and implementing performance evaluation mechanisms for prosecutors.

In a recent meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, various recommendations were discussed to enhance the prosecution system in the province. The focus was on improving the legal quality of First Information Reports (FIRs) and implementing the Punjab Integrated Public Prosecutor’s System. The meeting also proposed a set of skills to enhance the professional competence of prosecutors and suggested the implementation of a Digital System for Setting Prosecutor’s Performance Indicators.

During the briefing, it was highlighted that a performance score mechanism would be introduced to evaluate the prosecutors' effectiveness. The system aims to ensure a transparent grading of the prosecutors' performance to enhance accountability and efficiency in the prosecution process.

The meeting was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, and MPA Sania Ashiq. Key officials including the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Inspector General (IG), Secretaries, and other relevant officers were also present to discuss and strategize the proposed improvements.

The efforts to revamp the prosecution system in Punjab reflect a commitment to enhancing legal processes and ensuring accountability. The proposed measures, including upgrading the legal quality of FIRs and implementing performance evaluation systems for prosecutors, aim to streamline the prosecution process and improve overall efficiency in the legal system.
