PM Shehbaz Sharif visits Tehran to mourn late President Raisi

Upon his arrival at Tehran International Airport, Prime Minister Shehbaz was warmly received by Iranian Minister for Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash. At the commemoration event, he extended his sympathies to caretaker Iranian President Mohammad Mokhber, commending late President Raisi for his significant contributions to Iran's progress and his efforts in strengthening the ties between Pakistan and Iran.

PM Shehbaz conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Pakistani government and its people to the acting President of Iran, underscoring Pakistan's unwavering support for Iran during this challenging period. He emphasized the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations, reminiscing about the late president's recent visit to Pakistan and the positive impact it had on bilateral relations.

In a gesture of respect, the Prime Minister offered his best wishes to interim Iranian President Mokhber and paid his respects to late President Raisi by visiting the hall where his body lay in state. He offered prayers for the departed leader's soul to find eternal peace.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz held a meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Imam Khamenei during his visit. Earlier in the day, Supreme Leader Khamenei led the funeral prayers for late President Raisi, with a large gathering of mourners assembling in Tehran. The funeral procession is set to proceed to Mashhad for the final burial rites.
